Everything you've heard about Greece is true - it's fabulous!

This perfect discovery of Greece starts in Athens – edgy and very exciting.  This city has so much to offer including the incredible site of the Acropolis which overlooks the city.  Filled with a wide selection of restaurants, wonderful shopping and stunning archaelogical sites and museums you really won’t want to leave. Our expert guide will lead us on a fascinating food tour of Athens – what a wonderful way to get to know a city.

In Mykonos we visit the beautiful town of Chora with tiny streets draped in bougainvillaea we can sit in coffee shops overlooking the sea and the city windmills.  We venture out to a hill top town to dine with Christos who has one of the best local restaurants on the island, everything he cooks comes from the family farm. We meet Antonis ,our local guide, who will take us on a scenic tour of Mykonos, visiting the beautiful beaches and the stunning town. In the evening, we’ll have a special dinner cooked just for us overlooking the town and bay.

The view from our hotel in Santorini is stunning. This is one of the most beautiful and picture perfect islands  in Greece with its white washed houses, blue domes and brilliant blue shimmering sea – we’ll explore it up close with our own private yacht, sailing the caldera – how perfect!

Our last island is Crete and although bigger than the others it is brimming with amazing architecture and fascinating history.  We spend our time here in the Venetian port of Chania staying in a quaint historical hotel, right in the centre.  We venture out to a mountain village, more like a wild west town really, where Koula will show us why Cretan food is know all over the world as  the healthiest, and most delicious.  Chania is a delightful town with tiny streets filled with artisans producing jewellery, rugs and soaps.  Staying right in the centre has its benefits.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Athens Welcome to Greece

Athens, a fascinating city filled to the brim with living history and modern excitement. Get ready for a heady few days here. We meet tonight for an ‘aperitivo’ before our Big Fat Greek adventure. We’ll venture out to the Plaka area, this place is so atmospheric - the quintessential Greek scene - and we’ll be indulging in our first authentic Greek meal under the stars with an amazing view of the Acropolis.

Our tours to Greece are well organised, small groups and great fun.
Dinner and wine included

Day 2 - Athens Ancient Athens Walking Tour

This morning we discover ancient Athens, leaving our hotel to see up close that which is visible all over the city of Athens - the Acropolis. We’ll journey back in time before Christ to when it was first constructed and learn of the turbulent history of the Athenians, the tribe of Athens. We visit the new amazing Acropolis museum with our wonderful guide, Nick. In the afternoon, at leisure, Athens is a treasure to be discovered - what about shopping in the flea market? Athens is a shopper's paradise.
Breakfast

Day 3 - Athens Food Tour of Athens

A Walking Food Tour of Athens: Don’t have your fill at breakfast as today we will discover a myriad of Greek delicacies, those delicious syrupy sweets, loukoumades, (yum) to the savoury pastourma along with feta cheese and tasty Greek olives. We start our tour in a traditional Greek coffee house to taste the 'real' Greek coffee. Our guide is a food expert and we’ll discover aromatic spice shops, colourful delicatessens, dairies and sweet shops. We’ll also visit the bustling central Varvakeios food market - extremely loud, but exciting. Not quite sure whether we will have room for lunch after this walking tour as we will have our fill of tastings. Free afternoon for your own discovery; relax by the hotel pool, or the many other museums and galleries.
Breakfast included

Day 4 - Mykonos Flight to Mykonos

We leave this morning for the exciting island of Mykonos, known as the party island. Who needs that, we’re bringing our own party! Our flight is just 30 minutes and we’ll arrive at lunchtime. Our hotel is slightly out of the main town Chora, 3 kms, which is fantastic as this means it is quiet with a gorgeous sandy beach nearby - so relaxing with great views. Some might choose to go to the beach for lunch (there are some lovely tavernas on the beach where you can claim your own lounge chair and be served right there - how decadent!). Maybe spend a few hours relaxing here (or just sit by the hotel pool) before we venture into town for dinner in the gorgeous seaside village of Chora.
Breakfast included

Day 5 - Mykonos

Take some time out this morning for a little relaxation - - maybe even a sleep in? Take a walk or relax on the beach with a good book. This afternoon Antonis our very entertaining local guide will take us on a scenic tour of Mykonos. We'll hit the most scenic spots of the island, have coffee like a local in the delightful town, find the best views of the iconic windmills and amble through the picturesque streets of Chora finding the perfect photograph of the Venetian harbour. We will venture out to some wonderful beaches and an iconic bar of Mykonos. For a late lunch we'll sit in an atmospheric beach side restaurant - Greek style.

Breakfast and lunch with wine included

Day 6 - Mykonos Delos Island

This morning we take a boat to Delos Island, one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. For those who’ve been to Pompei, the comparison is quite stark. This was a holy sanctuary before Olympian Greek mythology made it the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Sound familiar from that Greek mythology you learnt in school? In the afternoon you will have plenty of time to relax overlooking the ocean with a good book, enjoy lunch with stunning views in Chora or a little window shopping might be your thing?
Breakfast included

Day 7 - Santorini

We say goodbye to the lovely island of Mykonos this morning and we make our way, by ferry, to the stunning island of Santorini, where the beautiful people holiday. We are staying in one of the best spots on the island where people travel from all over the world to photograph this most amazing sunset - it’s legendary. Get ready for stairs as the hotel is built into the side of the cliff and actually consists of old cave houses. Every room is different and everyone has the best view you could imagine. In the afternoon discover the lovely town where you can sit in a bar or coffee shop on top of a sheer cliff looking out to nothing but stunning views - you’ll never become tired of it though.
Santorini hotels are built into the side of the cliff and consequently have many stairs - this tour is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Breakfast included

Day 8 - Sanorini Sailing the caldera on our own yacht

Today we sail the caldera on our own private yacht and it’s gorgeous! We are picked up from the hotel to travel to Amoudi Bay. Here we will cruise the amazingly beautiful caldera with stops at the Black Beach, White Beach and Red Beach and some mineral springs swimming spots. Our crew, the captain and his mate will pamper us with a delicious lunch and a little tipple of delicious Santorini wine, which just happens to be wonderful - aren’t we lucky. We really will be treated like the rich and famous, and why not? This day is special!
Breakfast with lunch and wine included

Day 9 - Santorni Up for a walk?

It’s up to you today. Would you like to laze by the hotel pool reading a good book with the best views in Santorini or would you like some exercise with a stunning cliff walk to the next town?
If exercise is your thing, we will walk along the cliff face with stunning views of the caldera to the next town. The walk is around 3 - 3.5 hours and the path takes us along the coast line - stunning. We will pass through some other lovely hill top towns before reaching Thira where we should be just in time for lunch at a hill top restaurant.
For those who don’t want to walk: Relax in the morning and catch up with the walkers in Thira to explore this lovely town.
Breakfast included

Day 10 - Santorini Wine Tour and a discovery of Santorini overnight Heraklyon Crete

We make our way around the island discovering Santorini’s wine areas, points of interest and some great wineries. The Thira Archeological museum is absolutely fascinating and the exhibits date back to prehistoric times. We venture out to do a little wine tasting and learn about the ingenious way the island produces its grapes. As the winds on the island are very strong the vines are left to grow on the ground, the island doesn’t produce a lot of wine, but what it does is delicious. After a little tipple we visit Megalochori and have lunch under the vines at Raki, such a cute town to discover after lunch.
We catch a late afternoon ferry to the beautiful island of Crete.
Breakfast and lunch with wine included

Day 11 - Heraklion (1 night) Crete

A short drive (20 mins) to Knosses. This morning we discover the ancient city of Knosses with our guide. The palace was the capital of Minoan Crete and was inhabited for thousands of years beginning with Neolithic settlement and was abandoned in 1300 BC. Fascinating!
In the afternoon we arrive into Chania, a gorgeous Venetian port filled with tiny alleyways and small shops selling handicrafts, jewellery, handmade soaps etc. This small city is a delight and we are staying right in the historic centre at the best hotel. Our dinner tonight is in the one of the most authentic restaurants in Chania - delicious food.
Breakfast and Dinner, wine included

Day 12 - Chania Cretan Cooking

After a leisurely breakfast, you might decide to discover Chania - an old Venetian port. You could spend hours discovering the lanes and back alleys here. You might even decide to take part in a traditional Haman (Turkish spa) which is a short walk from our hotel, leave your modesty at home though. Chania is truly such a lovely town.
This afternoon at 3.30pm we meet to take a short drive to a hillside village (this place really is like a wild west town) where we’ll discover much about Cretan cooking. Koula is an expert cook and author and you won’t believe the dishes we prepare in just one afternoon. The class takes place in an old mill, such a lovely setting. All dishes are made of genuine pure Cretan products and this will be informative as well as lots of fun. We enjoy dinner under the stars before venturing back to our lovely hotel.
Breakfast and your own handmade delicious dinner

Day 13 - Walking tour of Chania with Alki

This morning, for those who would like to learn more about this amazing Venetian port town, we will have a short walking tour of the old city where we will see grand Turkish houses, winding alleys, the Jewish neighbourhood and many villas and palazzos. In the afternoon, at leisure you could take a boat tour from the harbour to see part of the island by boat.
This evening we meet for an aperitivo before venturing out to our last night in gorgeous Chania - how sad! We’ll sit under the stars yet again to taste another great Cretan meal and reminisce over our wonderful Greek adventure.
Breakfast and dinner with wine included
