Only with a small group guided tour of Tuscany is it possible to really experience those out of the way places that are so difficult to encounter with a larger group.  Our intimate small hotels and charming local guides allow us to discover the Tuscany of colourful beauty, delicious flavours and amazingly warm characters.

We meet in the very centre of Tuscany, Florence where Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci once called home.  We discover the delights of the Uffizi, home to the best Renaissance art, gaze into the eyes of David and savour the delicious food.  We will meet local winemakers, cheese producers and those who make the scrumptious olive oil.  We shop for leather in the markets in Florence and search for that perfect ceramic plate in San Gimignano.  This tour is a great mix of history, culture, small family run wineries, wonderful characters, charming hotels and Tuscan hill towns. Itinerary

Day 1 - Florence

Our small group tour to Tuscany will rendezvous in the afternoon at our charming hotel just a step from the Duomo. Observe the magnificent architectural masterpieces within walking distance of the hotel in an informal guided orientation tour. Join us in a delightful ’gelato’ crawl to our favourite places in Florence. Enjoy a welcome aperitivo and get to know your “Indulgence” travelling companions. Then off to a restaurant to savour the mouth watering taste of sun-kissed local ingredients, beautifully and skilfully prepared and paired with delicious local wines.

Day 2 - Florence

The day begins with a fascinating walking tour of Florence we discover this incredible city which has been home to such artistic icons as Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. We explore Brunelleschi’s dome, Giotto’s Tower and more, along with the leather markets and the resting place of Michelangelo in Santa Croce. We will also visit Michelangelo's magnificent 'David' in the Accademia Gallery. In the afternoon, for those who can resist the fabulous shopping, you might decide to climb the dome to get up close to the frescoes or discover the great array of museums and galleries for which Florence is famous.

Day 3 - Florence

You will have ’skip the line’ tickets to the Uffizi gallery, the best collection of renaissance art in Italy. In the afternoon, explore ‘your’ Florence with a trip to Ponte Vecchio, oldest occupied bridge in the world – also home to Florence’s gold market, visit Salvatore Ferragamo’s shoe museum or just shop until you drop at San Lorenzo, the best open air leather market in Italy. This is the chance to buy that Italian leather coat you have always wanted.

Day 4 - San Gimignano

Every tour to Italy wouldn’t be complete without a scenic drive through the rolling landscape of Tuscany to a delightful fortified hilltop village offering the chance to wander, shop and taste some local wine. We will visit wine makers and find out the secrets behind delicious Chianti wine. Our lunch today is in the Tuscan countryside in a restaurant that will delight in its preparation of authentic Tuscan food. We arrive in San Gimignano for a relaxing evening.

Day 5 - San Gimignano

We will explore fascinating San Gimignano on a walking tour of this iconic towered town, built at a time when every man’s home was literally his castle. Some of the best views overlooking the Val d’Elsa await those who climb the main tower in Piazza Duomo. Delight in the quaint shops while searching for that perfect Italian ceramic plate or a painting that captures the essence of Tuscany.

Day 6 - San Gimignano (Pienza Montepulciano Montalcino)

Starting our tour in Montalcino this town dates back to the middle ages and is the home of one of the most iconic red wines, Brunello. It is here where the headquarters of the Brunello Wine Association is found and where we will be guided through some wine tasting of the best wine grown in the area. Our next stop will take us to a smaller establishment where we will not only tour the production facilities but also have lunch in the winery restaurant. The stunning town of Pienza is next of the agenda and is filled with incredible renaissance architecture but also spectacular views from the edge of the town. Here we can taste the delicious pecorino cheeses and honey for which the town is famous. Montepulciano is next on our list, this town is a picture where we also taste some of the delicious products of the area and tour the town where part of the Twilight movie was filmed.

Day 7 - Chianti

Today we tour one of Tuscany’s magnificent castles which also happens to produce its own Chianti wine. After discovering the many rooms of the castle and learning about its very important owners we taste some delicious Chianti wine before venturing out to a lunch in a local family run restaurant.

We tour other hilltop walled villages of Tuscany gazing at the magnificent landscapes on our way to our next destination Chianti and our lovely country hotel.

Day 8 - Chianti (Greve)

A perfect day in the Tuscany countryside. Enjoy our delightful country town, placed between the city of Florence and Siena and surrounded by vines. Sit on the terrace enjoying the view or lunch in the many great restaurants - this is what holidays are made of.

Day 9 - Chianti (Siena)

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Siena visiting the magnificent Duomo, Piazza del Campo - home of the famous palio (horse race) and Palazzo Pubblico or town hall. We can climb the tower or just sit in this magnificent square to drink in the medieval atmosphere which is still in evidence today. Our guide takes us to the districts of the ’Giraffe’ and ’Turtle’ where we take a peak into the churches and museums detailing the history of these small communities which come out in force when the Palio is staged. In the afternoon, explore the 17 districts that radiate from Il Campo and discover ‘your Siena’ at leisure.

Day 10 - Chianti

Travel from Chianti to the train station in Florence where the tour ends. Stay in the area to explore more wonderful Tuscan towns, or catch a train to Rome, Milan, Verona……the possibilities are endless.
