The Best Places of Italy Tour - this is a mixed tour

  • Share friends:
Is magical Italy calling? You’d love to go but just don’t know where to start?

We think we’ve designed the best tour of Italy to the places we love – and we’d love to share them with you.

Our small group escorted tour to Italy (of up to only 12) will experience: Rome – with its stunning monuments and history, the Amalfi Coast – with spectacular Positano, and picturesque Tuscany along with Chianti and Florence.  Our small group tour to Italy is perfect for those wanting to experience it all without breaking the bank or being just a number of a bus.  All the hard work is done and organised so all you need to do is to sit back and thoroughly enjoy your Italian holiday.

We travel to Italy and stay  longer in the places we visit so there is no constant packing and unpacking, no early starts racing to have your luggage on the bus, no sitting on a bus for hours on end, no boring and bland tour food.  Our tours to Italy are well paced allowing you to taste, smell and savour the amazing cuisine and wine.

So if you’ve always wondered what it would be like to stand in the Sistine Chapel (with an early entry and before the crowds), stroll through the streets of Pompei, savour a glass of Chianti in a deserted piazza, travel around the Amalfi coast by boat and view Michelangelo’s David –  then join us!

Day 1 – Rome

Welcome to Bella Roma! Early evening we meet for a La Dolce Vita Stroll before venturing out for a delicious Rome meal.

We are specialists in small group 'Tours of Italy'

Day 2 - Emperors and Gladiators tour

In this private tour of the Colosseum, we will have 'skip the line' tickets to discover ancient Rome. We walk in the path of the Gladiators and discover this amazing structure that has stood the test of time for 2,000 years and hear of its bloody history. We also discover the Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill and Venice Square. We'll walk back to our hotel through some lovely piazzas where you might like to enjoy a delicious lunch with an ancient backdrop.

Day 3 – Rome and the Vatican

We have early morning tickets to the Vatican - before the crowds. We will visit the Vatican and discover the priceless treasures of the Vatican museums and wonder at the genius of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel – with an expert Vatican guide, of course. In the afternoon, you might decide to further explore Vatican city or take in the other wonderful attractions and galleries in the historical area.

Day 4 - Positano and Pompeii

We travel to Pompeii where we will have our expert guide to explain how daily life was disrupted in this Roman town in 79AD when Mt Vesuvius decided to awaken and destroy everything in its path. Bread still in the ovens ready for a mid day lunch, walking the streets can be a little eerie. We can peek into homes and shops and also read graffiti telling us so much of the daily life. We travel to our next adventure, the beautiful Positano where, perched high above the water, the houses seem to defy gravity and are a picture brilliantly painted against a stunning ocean backdrop. Tonight we enjoy dinner overlooking the gorgeous and picturesque town of Positano - the prettiest town on the Amalfi coast. Enjoy fresh seafood with perfect views.

Day 5 - Positano - a day of relaxation in the prettiest town on the Amalfi coast

In the morning, spend some quiet time exploring the bustling village, have a pair of Positano sandals made just for you, sit for a coffee with a stunning view of the coastline, or just spend your time window shopping in the many wonderful boutiques. For lunch, at leisure, you might decide to travel to the next bay for a delicious meal of fresh seafood, caught that morning off the boat. This day is a day of relaxation in the centre of the most stunning town on the Amalfi coast.

Day 6 – Positano A day discovering the Amalfi coast on the water

A fabulous day on the Amalfi coast! We take a boat to take us for an exciting journey along the Amalfi coast to the stunningly beautiful Isle of Capri, the playground of the rich and famous (we might even do some star spotting). On arrival into Capri we take the funicular up to the town where we'll take a delightful walk through the villas to Marina Piccola and find somewhere delicious for lunch. This island was home to the bloodthirsty Emperor Tiberius.
After lunch, it's back on our boat where we will spend some time finding the perfect swimming spot and exploring the gorgeous island. The geology of the island is ancient and fascinating. We will explore the grottoes that can only be found with a smaller boat and might be able to swim in the brilliantly coloured waters. Imagine sitting on our private boat sipping prosecco and munching on the delicious sweet delicacies of the Amalfi coast, wondering what our mates back home are doing.

Day 7 – Florence

We take the fast train to Tuscany - sometimes reaching 300 kms per hour - a very quick trip. After settling in to our hotel you might like to take a casual stroll around the streets of Florence, the town where Leonardo and Michelangelo called home. This place is a shopper's paradise with gorgeous leather, something to tempt everyone. There are also a myriad of galleries and museums to be discovered in Florence. Tonight we meet for a delightful discovery of Tuscan cuisine. This restaurant showcases the products for which Tuscany is famous.
Breakfast and dinner with wine.

Day 8 - Florence

This morning we spend time with our Florentine guide who will share with us his love of his home town: the history, architecture, art and fascinating characters who called this renaissance city home. We complete our tour of Florence in the bustling central market where we’ll have time to enjoy some delicious tastings of Tuscan products followed by a Florentine lunch in the market.

Day 9 – Florence

We meet David, one of Michelangelo’s most famous creations. You will be in awe of this most wonderful artwork. We will have 'skip the line' tickets.
In the afternoon, you might decide to visit the myriad of galleries and museums that make Florence one of the most amazing renaissance cities. For those who are truly active you could climb to the top of the magnificent duomo which will give you the perfect bird’s eye view.

Day 10 – Chianti

We journey through the verdant landscapes of Tuscany to experience the quaint hill top town of San Gimignano and its magnificent towers, the quintessential Tuscan hill town. We will venture to the highest point giving us spectacular views of the Val d’Elsa and wander through the quaint shops maybe looking for that perfect ceramic plate or chic Italian bag. Following our tour of San Gimignano we will visit an ancient winery for a guided tasting of delicious Chianti wine with a tour of the castle and cellars.
Our dinner tonight is in our delightful Chianti town.
Breakfast, Dinner and wine included

Day 11 – Chianti

A perfect place for a relaxing day in Tuscany. Our gorgeous hotel is placed in the centre of a delightful village where you can spend time wine tasting or just walking around to find the stunning views which surround this most idyllic town. Let's meet for a rustic picnic tasting some of the specialities of Tuscany along with the delicious Chianti wine.
Breakfast and picnic lunch with wine.

Day 12 - Chianti

This morning we enjoy a guided walking tour of Siena, visiting the magnificent Duomo, Piazza del Campo home of the famous Palio horse race. We can climb the tower or just sit in this magnificent square to drink in the medieval stmosphere which is still evident today. Our guide takes us to the districts of the Giraffe and the Turtle where we take a peek into the churches and museums detailing the history of these small communities which come out in force when the Palio is staged.

Our last night in Tuscany and we will have an aperitivo in a local bar before we experience yet another great traditional Tuscan meal to reminisce over our exciting Italian holiday.
Breakfast and dinner with wine

Day 13 - Florence

We say goodbye to new found friends and glorious Tuscany. You will be transported back to the central train station in Florence just before lunch.
Our itineraries are carefully planned and well thought out but touring Italy can sometimes offer wonderful surprises. The magic of travelling in such a small group allows us to cater for this spontaneity and it is sometimes these unplanned occurrences that can be the most memorable. The rich tapestry of experiences and the characters you meet along the way will make this tour of Italy something special.
